My passion
is capturing the diversity of cultures. There is not a place in the
world where there is not fascination and mystery.
Over the years my work emphasizes the architectural detail and the expressiveness
of people from such places as Nepal, Morocco, Guatemala, Peru, Thailand,
Cambodia, Ireland, Greece, Turkey, France, and Italy.
A particular joy for me is walking alone in a village or down a crowded
market street with camera in hand, combining conversation with photography
- searching for smiles, emotions, and subtle detail that depict the
lifestyle.
I keep it simple. In my backpack are two cameras - a comfortable
25 year-old Pentax and a new Canon with wide-angle to portrait length
lenses. I take time to compose and focus each picture, not rushing
to get lots of shots, but being aware of each scene before moving on.
I work closely with several labs to ensure that each print meets my quality
specifications.
When I am not photographing, I am paddling away in my kayak from the hustle
of daily living. In the evenings I enjoy cultural dancing such as
Sufi and African dance.
My life is a grand experience of challenge and discovery.
